Malmaison Hotel, Reading
Work done
Two redundant office buildings in Reading’s town centre - one an early 19th century listed building - were converted into a four star hotel with 75 bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms, including six luxury suites. Glass entrances and canopies were installed and a glass link created between the two buildings. A 900 square metre roof extension was added to the third floor, with a steel and brick lightwell and skylights. The extension was crafted to complement the existing features of the listed building.
The project included the creation of a brasserie, cafe and private dining/meeting room, bar, public lounge, main kitchen, gym and offices, plus the installation of three passenger lifts and feature staircases.
