What do you get if you cross a Zen Buddhist, a team of builders, and a West End postcode?
Answer
Actually you get one of the most unique restaurants in London, and one of the toughest fit outs too.
Umu, on Bruton Street in the West End, is a Kyoto restaurant that is also a specialist in kaiseki. No, I had to ask as well. It’s a formal dining style based on Zen Buddhist practices, lots of very high quality fish and vegetables, that kind of thing.
The restaurant food is stunning, and so is the space. During the fit out we used materials and finishes from all over the world, timber, bronze, glass and stone.
If you’re passing stop by and have a look, the star-trek doors are a treat in themselves.
