How can you get up a staircase without waking George Clooney?

Not really an everyday request for most people, but on a fast track fit out in a five star hotel it’s the kind of aspect that gets considered. A hotel doesn’t really want to know that building work is taking place – and the guests certainly don’t. On this project we had to create some really stunning event space, and the centre piece was a large bespoke staircase which joined the two main areas.

Building the stairs on-site was never a practical option as the time and noise required would not have suited the hotel or the five star guests staying there (George Clooney included). Our answer was to take a very precise design and set of measurements and manage a specialist company who could build the staircase off-site. The staircase was then brought to site in two large sections and installed within a day. George Clooney didn’t miss any beauty sleep.
