Take one Landmark theatre, 1,600 seats, a full refurbishment, new bars, toilets and public areas, and 14 weeks… Cor blimey, Mary Poppins’ we’re gonna need a miracle!

Cameron Mackintosh’s Prince Edward Theatre was due to open with Mary Poppins by Christmas. The space needed a full refurbishment, and because bums-on-seats are what matters in the theatre darling, the time to run the project was very tight.

After a six week strip-out our project team had just 14 weeks to complete a substantial building that had stood undamaged through the blitz. Despite the maze of corridors and back rooms, VIP areas, bars and cloakrooms, we completed the project as the client needed, in time for the scenery to be built and for rehearsals to begin.

As Mary would say “Practically perfect in every way” – and all without using magic!
