You or I might struggle but there are specialists out there who can. When we refurbished the Promenade at the five-star Dorchester Hotel, faux-marble pillars were just one of the highly detailed finishes to be refreshed. Also as this was a refurbishment in occupation, with the hotel at full use, getting the space and time to work was also a real challenge.

In the end we agreed with our client that the specialist painters could refurbish the pillars in full view of the hotel’s guests. As it such a painstaking task, undertaken totally by hand, the guests were intrigued to see it take place, and often would come up and talk to the artist while she was working.
