A 1934 Royal Mail post office building in Banstead, Surrey was converted into a restaurant, brasserie, delicatessen and bar. POST was designed to create a modern, spacious feel whilst retaining the shape of the original post office rooms.
Two separate kitchens were installed, a pizza oven behind the bar and a dumb waiter across the three storeys. Storerooms were created on the ground floor, new roof coverings applied and glazed roof lighting.
Major excavations were carried out for new drainage and structural changes and site discoveries required the removal of reinforced concrete vaults, telephone boxes, a bomb shelter and a lamppost.
