Trinity College Oxford

Project description

Student accommodation was refurbished at Trinity College, Oxford.  Taplane manufactured pod showers, basins and toilets were integrated into a Grade II listed, 18th century building to create ensuite facilities for 23 bedrooms.  Special care was taken not to damage period features such as fireplaces and cornices.  The pods were manufactured off site to overcome challenging site access constraints. Careful programming was required to prevent disruption to students and the general public, as the works were carried out during term time beside the College’s main quadrangle, a major tourist attraction. The project also included the refurbishment of an underground plant room, servicing the residential buildings across the campus, and the installation of a new energy efficient heating system.  The project was completed one week earlier than scheduled.
